Polymertal Shortlisted for ICIS Innovation Award for New  Functional Material, Incorporating UBQ™

SPP-50XX offers industrial, automotive manufacturers and consumers, lightweight metallized polymer material with significantly reduced carbon footprint

Tel Aviv – August 4, 2022 – UBQ Materials, climate tech developer of advanced materials made from unsorted household waste including all organics, announced today that its partner and customer, Polymertal, has been named a finalist in the ICIS Innovation Awards.

The ICIS Innovation Awards recognize products and processes in the chemicals industry that benefit the environment and advance progress towards sustainability. Polymertal develops cutting-edge metal plating processes to create unique metallized-polymer parts.

Earlier this year, UBQ Materials and Polymertal partnered to release SPP-50XX as part of Polymertal’s, “S Series.” SPP-50XX utilizes a thin metal plating on top of the material’s base substrate, which comprises 20 percent UBQ™. This enables the material to remain lightweight and exhibit key metallic properties, including durability, stiffness, heat resistance and electromagnetic shielding, while significantly reducing its environmental impact. As verified by World Watchers, the inclusion of UBQ™ yields a 50 percent reduction in CO2e emissions as compared to aluminum.

ICIS judges selected Polymertal as a finalist for its development of SPP-50XX, a functional, lightweight advanced material with metallic properties which features UBQ™ for an even further reduced carbon footprint.

“Polymertal is answering a growing demand for carbon-reduced products with metallic properties for functional applications in tough environments”, said Albert Douer, Chairman and Co-CEO of UBQ Materials. “SPP-50XX enables manufacturers in automotive, industrial and consumer manufacturing to incorporate a sustainable material earlier in the supply chain to reduce the overall carbon footprint of end products. We are thrilled to see this product garner industry recognition at this stage in our partnership and hope to continue pushing the boundaries of novel sustainable material innovation for the chemicals industry together.”
